The device is designed to produce hydrogen for laboratory use and must comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) regulations. These requirements are intended to limit electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions that may interfere with radio and television equipment, and to prevent interference with other electronic equipment in the vicinity. The pure hydrogen generator by electrolysis of water and its primary components must be an electrochemical cell assembly containing a solid polymer electrolyte that must be filled with deionized or purified water.
